Jury day is January 28th 2012.
The exhibition runs from February 16th to March 20th 2012.

Appel de propositions
En 2012, les Prix Rideau Awards célébreront leur cinquième anniversaire. Pour souligner cette importante occasion, nous lançons un appel de propositions de concepts pour une nouvelle statuette Rideau.
Les Prix Rideau Awards ont été créés en 2006 pour célébrer, encourager et promouvoir le théâtre professionnel local de langues française et anglaise, ainsi que les artistes qui y oeuvrent, au moyen d'une cérémonie annuelle de remise de prix. Ils favorisent l'excellence artistique et la communication entre les deux communautés théâtrales. Actuellement, les prix que nous remettons prennent la forme de certificats encadrés, mais comme notre organisation mûrit, nous aimerions célébrer nos artistes en leur remettant un prix, soit une statuette ou un trophée, qui est lui-même une oeuvre d'art.
Nous vous prions de tenir compte des critères suivants dans votre proposition de concept :
- la taille;
- le coût;
- le concept doit rappeler le théâtre et notre mandat, mais évitez le kitsch et les clichés. Nous sommes à la recherche d'un concept classique qui puisse être réutilisé année après année;
- la durabilité des matériaux - les statuettes doivent durer;
- il faut un espace réservé à l'apposition d'une petite plaque contenant les détails du prix;
- la facilité avec laquelle le concept peut être reproduit.
Nous comptons présenter un prototype du concept sélectionné à l'occasion du gala qui se déroulera en avril 2012. Les nouveaux prix seront ensuite remis aux lauréats à la cérémonie de remise des prix d'avril 2013. En plus d'être reconnue comme le créateur du prix, la personne sélectionnée sera rémunérée pour son concept. Les droits d'auteur appartiendront aux Prix Rideau Awards.
Les propositions doivent être envoyées au plus tard le vendredi 27 janvier 2012 et inclure des dessins, des couleurs, une liste des matériaux, les spécifications de conception ou un modèle.

Call For Artists - The Friends of the Central Experimental Farm (FCEF)
ART EXHIBITION AND SALE
FOR THE LOVE OF THE FARM
October 2012
The Friends of the Central Experimental Farm (FCEF), a non-profit, volunteer organization founded in 1988, provides more than 15,000 volunteer hours to maintain, promote and protect the Central Experimental Farm (CEF), a national historic site and cultural heritage landscape in the heart of Ottawa. 'The Friends' promote the Farm through educational programs and help care for the Ornamental Gardens and Arboretum. The beauty of these areas on the Farm provides a peaceful escape for those in the Ottawa area and for visitors from around the world.
This art exhibition provides an opportunity for artists of various media to show their work over a four-day period.
Exhibition:
Set-up: Friday, October 5: noon to 4 p.m. Vernissage: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, October 6 and Sunday October 7: noon to 9 p.m.; Monday, October 8: noon to 6 p.m.
The Exhibition will be held on the main floor of Building #72, in the Arboretum, which is located east of the round-about on Prince of Wales Drive.
The artist, or a representative, must be present at the Vernissage and visit at least once daily during the open hours of the exhibition. The Friends of the Farm will be responsible for the promotion and sale of artwork Saturday through Monday
The artist will give 30% commission to FCEF from the sale price of the art sold and will receive a charitable tax receipt. Art must be ready to hang. Pieces will be approximately 2' x 2' (60cm x 60cm) and approximately $500 in value. Reproductions, numbered and/or signed, are acceptable, as are art cards. A piece of art (minimum $100) will be donated by the artist for a silent auction to be held during the show. The artist will be provided with a charitable receipt for the donation value.
Advertising:
FCEF will advertise the event on art-related websites, through their membership, and in local papers, etc. Artists are expected to invite guests to attend the Vernissage, and issue invitations to promote the event. Invitations and posters are available.
Display:
Artist's space will be 4' x 4' (120cm x 120cm) on a shared peg board with lights and the floor space below. Location will be chosen by lottery.
Jury Process:
Applications are juried by members of the show committee. Choices will be made based on content, originality, quality and excellence of art work. Selection will be finalized by March 29, 2012. Applicants will be notified by mail.
Cash:
FCEF will provide a central cash. Payment may be made by Visa, Mastercard, cash, or cheque. FCEF will be responsible for the wrapping of any sold art.
Submission Requirements: Deadline: 2 p.m., March 1, 2012
1. A signed agreement
2. One copy of your CV and a photo list (photo number, title, medium, original size and value)
3. Ten (10) to fifteen (15) digital images on CD. They must be JPEG and PC compatible, minimum of 300 ppi with a maximum final print size of 8" x 10" (20cm x 25cm) and labeled with a number and title.
4. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with sufficient postage if you wish your CD to be returned

Call for Proposals - Haliburton Sculpture Forest
Call for Proposals for a new sculpture for the Haliburton Sculpture Forest
Theme: Avian Fauna - Birds of the Haliburton Highlands
Deadline for submissions February 29, 2012
Canadian artists are invited to submit proposals for a new sculpture for the Haliburton Sculpture Forest located in Glebe Park in the village of Haliburton, Ontario. The Haliburton Sculpture Forest is looking for a work of artistic/design excellence and durability that suits the natural attributes of the Haliburton Sculpture Forest and addresses the theme of Avian Fauna - birds of Haliburton Highlands region. The winning artist will be responsible for the cost of materials and transporting the sculpture to the site.
The sculpture may be an existing work or a new work. The Sculpture Forest will pay up to $9,500 (plus HST if applicable) for the work.
Sculpture is to be installed by June 15, 2012
Proposals must include a description of the sculpture, detailed drawings or a maquette (if it is a proposed new work), photographs (if it is an existing work), description of materials and installation method and five pictures of other recent work. Details are provided in the terms of reference.

Movement Arts Ottawa seeking new members
Movement Arts Ottawa (MAO), Ottawa's member-run home for alternative movement practices, is seeking new members for 2012.
MAO provides a beautiful, sunny, affordable downtown studio with hardwood floors for a wide range of movement practices, such as dance and yoga. At the moment, the studio is available primarily on weekdays with limited evening and weekend availability.

Polar Film Festival Call For Entries
Canadian Film Institute and International Polar Year Seek Films that Focus on Arctic and Antarctic Regions
The Canadian Film Institute (CFI), in partnership with the International Polar Year (IPY) Federal Program Office, is officially seeking entries for the Polar Film Festival. The two-day moving image event is a featured presentation of the IPY 2012 Conference: From Knowledge to Action, held April 22-27, 2012, in Montréal, Quebec, Canada.
The Polar Film Festival will celebrate the rich diversity of the Polar Regions, as well as examine the many challenges and world-wide implications they face in the 21st Century and onward. As a follow-up to the IPY Film Festival presented by the CFI in 2009, this event highlights the efforts of filmmakers from around the world who approach the Polar Regions from many different industries, research interests, artistic sensibilities, and political perspectives.
The CFI welcomes all films that explore issues and activities of particular relevance to the Arctic and Antarctic regions. Any genres of film and video practice - documentary, research, industrial, fiction, activist - from all Polar Regions are encouraged for submission.
Video submissions can be mailed directly to the CFI as a playable DVD or Blu-Ray disc. Digital entries may be submitted via direct download link, or any common digital media format such USB drive or DVD-ROM. Entrants are asked to include production credits, digital stills, director bios and filmography, contact information, and other relevant materials with their submissions.

Occurring at a pivotal time for the environment of our planet, the International Polar Year (IPY) 2012 Conference draws international attention to the Polar Regions, global change, and related environmental, social and economic issues. From Knowledge to Action will bring together over 2,000 Arctic and Antarctic researchers, policy- and decision-makers, and a broad range of interested parties from academia, industry, non- government, education and circumpolar communities including indigenous peoples. The IPY 2012 Conference will contribute to the translation of new polar scientific findings into an evidence-based agenda for action that will influence global decisions, policies and outcomes over the coming years. Request For Proposals From Local Visual Artists
As part of its upcoming 100th Season in 2012/13, the Ottawa Little Theatre plans to commission a piece of art which recognizes and acknowledges the contribution made by the many volunteers and supporters who have given their time and energy to making the Ottawa Little Theatre the thriving community organization that it is today. The artwork will be installed inside or outside the Ottawa Little Theatre and should be able to integrate the names of at least 100 people/companies, with 10 names to be included on the original work and more to be added each year. The competition is open to local artists only (must live within 100 kilometres of the City of Ottawa).
Professional in style, traditional in tone, Ottawa Little Theatre (OLT) has been a vital part of the Ottawa Arts Community for almost 100 years, making it the longest continuously producing community theatre in Canada. OLT produces 10 productions a year, 8 plays in its regular season, and 2 plays in its summer season. As an amateur theatre all directors, designers, performers and technical running crew are volunteers. Over 55,000 tickets are sold each year to the OLT's productions and special events. The Ottawa Little Theatre will be celebrating its 100th Season of producing plays in 2012/2013.

Job Description
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager is responsible for the overall operations and day-to-day management of the OSO in achievement of the orchestra's mission. This includes budgeting, financial planning, fundraising, project management, preparing grant applications and liaising with government agencies and foundations, and the hiring and supervising of part-time staff. The General Manager ensures that policies of the Board are implemented and supports the Music Director with the pursuit of artistic activities.
The General Manager reports directly to the Board and liaises with the Chair and Music Director on a regular basis.
Requirements
The OSO is looking for an individual with a strong background in fundraising, planning and management skills, able to set strategy, provide direction and work with an active board, volunteers, and full and part-time staff.
The ideal candidate will be a committed arts manager with experience in the not for profit cultural sector.
Strong organizational, interpersonal and verbal communication skills will be beneficial in dealing with diverse individuals including musicians, subscribers, donors, sponsors and board members. Strong writing skills and experience in preparing grant applications.
Ability to communicate in both official languages is desirable.
Additional Information
The OSO is a 90-member community-based professional orchestra presenting a 5-concert series annually in the National Arts Centre, as well as contract engagements and a school concerts program.

OAC 2012 Skill Development Course for Artists
The Ontario Arts Council is pleased to support The Royal Conservatory's Artist-Educator Foundations Course once again. This initiative reaches new communities every year but also returns to communities where there is a high demand and where each year spots are limited for this program.
The Artist-Educator Foundations Course is an introductory 30-hour course for Ontario artists wanting to work in schools, social service organizations or other community settings. Artists will learn how to develop arts-based lessons that incorporate their arts practice and effectively engage participants. In 2012, classes will run in Barrie, Kenora, Oakville, Ottawa, Sarnia, Sault Ste. Marie, and Toronto. All classes will take place over two weekends, starting Friday afternoon or evening, depending on the site.
Please note that registration and information will only be available as of January 9, 2012.

Perspective Workshop - 6 ½ hours including the option of the
27 minute film, "Masters Of Illusion", by National Gallery of London.
Composition Workshop - 6 hours, including a Composition Clinic, Students can bring in a painting or two for some compositional direction or help.
Watercolour 101 - 6 hours, for the absolute beginner, start with washes, superimposing of colours, and special effects, end with a painting of a pastoral summer landscape.
Still Life With A Passion- For the more advanced painter:
These workshops begin with a short introduction to 17th century Dutch paintings, an intellectual feast. Discussing the use of a limited palette, how silver & reflections are painted, the importance of composition and lighting.
All classes start the week of January 21, 2012.
Workshops are available on Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 10am to 4pm (or 4:30 for Perspective Workshop) and the cost is $120. per workshop.
