Ana Miura Receives New Local Recording Award to Produce CDThe Council for the Arts in Ottawa congratulates Ana Miura for being selected as the recipient of the inaugural CAO/Sound of One Hand Music Recording Award 2006. As recipient of this new award co-sponsored by the Council for the Arts in Ottawa and the Sound of One Hand Recording Studio, Ana will receive free access to the equipment and technical production expertise of the Sound of One Hand recording studio to produce a "glass master" CD, a value approximated at $5,000. “The CAO is very excited, not only to be collaborating with Sound of One Hand on this new initiative but to be contributing in such a significant way to the career of a well-respected, emerging local musician," says Nichole McGill, CAO Board Member and Chair of the Awards Sub-Committee. "Sound of One Hand's generous sponsorship of this award not only will be pivotal in advancing Ana's career but also those of other musicians in the future. Congratulations Ana!” Ana was thrilled when notified of her selection for this award. She has been playing music since she was seven, and performed over 400 shows during her career. She has received numerous accolades including being named Ottawa's best singer-songwriter in the Ottawa X Press, a rising scene star by Ottawa Magazine and winner of the “2006 Songs from the Heart - Galaxie Rising Star Award” Songwriting award. Ana's debut EP, Tenacious Heart was released in 2005 and she plans to use the CAO/Sound of One Hand Music Recording Award 2006 to record a follow-up album with 15 songs already written. As Ana wrote in her award application, ”This is my time. I am ready to bring myself into a full fledged music career, full steam ahead!“ The Sound of One Hand has been active in the Ottawa music scene since the late 1980's helping artists realize their recording dreams. Over the years they have collected an astonishing amount of sought after audio equipment that define their unique sound signature. They are proud to have kept all the traditional studio elements while embracing the benefits of new technology to achieve a world-class sound.
