Three Local Artists Receive Corel Endowment for the Arts Awards

The Council for the Arts in Ottawa (CAO) is pleased to announce the recipients of this year's Corel Endowment for the Arts Awards. The Awards were presented at Revue II, an event that will be held in conjunction with the CAO's Annual General Meeting on June 27, 2007.

Benjamin Gaillard received support for his solo theatre piece titled Le Crabe. The original text has been written by Gaillard, and Le Théatre du Trillium has offered production support.

Media artist Christopher Rohde received support for an experimental narrative film that uses miniature models and optical technology borrowed from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Michelle Wilson received support for the development of a photography installation that explores the unique character of cast-off second hand clothing.

Nichole McGill, CAO Board Member and Chair of the Awards Sub-Committee expressed her delight that the CAO was able to assist three artists this year. "We were very pleased that our endowment fund at the Community Foundation of Ottawa was able to provide $1,000 to each of the three selected artists. We look forward to seeing how each of these projects will unfold."
