Akash Sinha - 2010 CAO Business and the Arts Recognition Award Recipient

The CAO Business and the Arts Recognition Award was announced during the CAO Sweetheart Cocktail for the Arts. This award was initiated in 1994 to recognize and encourage support given by the business community to the Ottawa arts community. This year's recipient was Akash Sinha, President of Dharma Developments.

Dharma Developments believes in working with innovative design, green construction and progressive building technologies. They also believe in giving back to the community and have demonstrated a progressive attitude that blends a social and cultural focus to a range of projects. Mr. Sinha established an on-line quarterly arts magazine Dharma Arts, and has been promoting local artists and arts producers for over three years. He is the founding member of 7en Entertainment, a promotional collective featuring the work of electronic music performers and video artists. He also founded Rhythm Works, which helps to promote Ottawa music talent abroad. He is the lead producer of Urbana, an annual multi-disciplinary cultural event that has raised over $70,000 to assist local not-for-profit organizations. The Ottawa Business Journal recognized Mr. Sinha in 2009 as one of the Top 40 Under Forty.

Akash Sinha received a framed limited edition print, "Chapter One" by Geraldine Taylor. The work is one of nine prints from the "Ode to the Grand Experimental Farm of Canada – The Arboretum" series. This series is represented in the collections of the City of Ottawa and the National Archives of Canada.
